Terms of Use

The terms for using Sonify.

The short version: use Sonify for your own listening, keep to the rules of Sonos and your music services, and remember it’s an independent app made by one person, offered as it is.

About these terms

Sonify is made by Lucas Titus, an independent developer in London, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). These terms cover Sonify for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, Mac and Windows, the web app at app.sonify.cloud, the Party Jukebox App Clip, and the online features that run on Sonify’s server (together, “Sonify”). By using Sonify you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

If you got Sonify from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If you got it from Google Play, Google Play’s terms also apply. How we handle your data is in the Privacy Policy.

Using Sonify

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Sonify on devices you own or control, to control your own Sonos system and for your own listening. Please don’t:

  • use Sonify to control a Sonos system you aren’t allowed to control;
  • copy, resell or redistribute Sonify, or remove its notices;
  • attack, overload or try to get around the limits of Sonify’s server, or use it for anything other than Sonify’s own features;
  • use Sonify in a way that breaks the law or the terms of Sonos or your music services.

Sonos and your music services

Sonify needs a Sonos S2 system, and works with the music services on it. Your use of Sonos and of each music service is governed by their own terms, and what Sonify can do depends on what they offer. If Sonos or a service changes or withdraws something Sonify relies on, a feature may stop working.

Sonify is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Sonos, Inc. or by any music service. You keep your Sonos sign-in safe; Sonify only ever receives a token from Sonos, never your password.

Online features

Some features run on Sonify’s server: the play queue, Listening Stats, syncing scenes, presets and playlists, automations, remote control, notifications, Lock Screen controls and Party Jukebox. We work to keep them running, but they may sometimes be unavailable, and we may change them or stop offering them.

Automations and alarms can be late or fail, for example when your network, Sonos or the server is down. Don’t rely on Sonify for anything where a missed or wrong action could cause harm or loss.

Party Jukebox and guests

A party code lets guests on your network add songs to your queue, and can include your Wi-Fi details if you choose. You decide who you share it with, and you’re responsible for its use. Guests must use Party Jukebox for adding music only, and the name a guest gives is shown with the songs they add.

Sonify Pro

Sonify Pro adds features to Sonify. It is sold in the iPhone and iPad app through the App Store, as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, at the prices shown in the app before you buy.

  • Payment is taken by Apple. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your App Store settings, at least a day before the end of the current period.
  • If a free trial is offered, you won’t be charged if you cancel before it ends.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple, under Apple’s rules.
  • A lifetime purchase gives you Sonify Pro for as long as we offer Sonify Pro, with no renewals.
  • We may add, change or remove Pro features over time. If we stop offering Sonify Pro, we’ll say so in the app.

Betas

Test versions on TestFlight and Google Play are unfinished. They may have bugs, change often or stop working, and features in them may not make it into a release.

Ownership

Sonify, its design and its code belong to Lucas Titus. Music, artwork and other content shown in Sonify belong to their owners and come from Sonos and your music services. Sonos, Apple, Google, Microsoft and the music services’ names are trademarks of their owners.

Our responsibility to you

We provide Sonify as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose, and we aren’t responsible for Sonos, your music services, your network or your devices.

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss that wasn’t foreseeable, for business losses, or for loss of data, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Sonify Pro in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Stopping

You can stop using Sonify at any time. To have your data deleted from Sonify’s server, email us as the Privacy Policy describes. We may suspend access to Sonify’s server for anyone who breaks these terms or puts the service at risk.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when Sonify changes. We’ll change the date at the top, and if a change matters, we’ll say so in the app or on this website. If you keep using Sonify after a change, the new terms apply.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
